DME 3.5 is scheduled for release in March 2010.
DME 3.5 is a major service pack update to DME 3.0, it is not a complete new version of DME.
DME 3.5 provides entirely new capabilities around remote device configuration, support of two new popular platforms and many enhancements to the DME iPhone client:
- Custom device configuration – The new custom device configuration capabilities makes is possible to silently configure (smartphone) any setting like VoIP, bookmarks and access points.
- Configuration of 3rd party mobile e-mail – Configuration of Mail for Exchange, native PIN code and native encryption can be managed via DME, making these 3rd party e-mail applications easily accessible and more secure.
- iPhone configuration and new push mechanism – iPhone profiles for e.g. VPN set-up, private certificates and native PIN code activation can be managed via DME and pushed to iPhone users ensuring the right set-up. With two different push options (iPhone push and SMS push), the user is alerted when new e-mails arrive.
- iPhone swipe authentication – a new intuitive and fast password authentication option highly improves the user experience with DME.
- Android device management and traffic logging – DME now offers device configuration, software deployment and file back-up for this new and upcoming platform as well as data/voice traffic logging
- BlackBerry traffic logging – With the DME client installed on BlackBerrys, all traffic can be monitored empowering organizations to get a full overview of their mobile estate and optimize their voice/data costs.
